Signs of Life :)

Last winter, in order to let ample sunshine fill our lazy-siesta-days, we had slashed down the branches off one side of the Sapodilla (Cheeku) tree in the courtyard. But now since summer was approaching, we were missing the verdant lushness.

And then, a couple of weeks back, a sprig of unspoilt, green leaves poked their head out on the upper reaches of the trunk (image 1).
The freshness spread and now we have similar shiny heads sprouting all over the once barren branch (image 2).

Bring on the summer now! :)

Eternal Spring

Even
Before the sun churns liquid gold
Before the streams go gurgling
Before the colours burst so bold
This you should know -
Eternal spring is hiding below.

While the frost silences the song
While the wordless wind pierces your shield
While the blank clouds scatter all along

You Learn

After a while you learn the subtle difference

Between holding a hand and chaining a soul

And you learn that, love doesn’t mean leaning

And company doesn’t mean security

And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts

And presents aren’t promises

And you begin to accept your defeats

With your head up & your eyes open

With the grace of a man, not grief of a child

And learn to build all your roads

On today because tomorrow’s ground

Is too uncertain for plans, and futures

Have a way of falling down in mid flight.

After a while you’ll learn that even sunshine

burns if you have too much..

So you plant your own garden and decorate 

your soul instead of waiting

for somebody to bring you flowers

And you learn that you really can endure…

That you really are strong

And you really do have worth

And you learn and learn

With every friend or lover you learn

With every goodbye you learn.

I run along the bees
Realms around all golden
Feel the ripples through my mane
The pot of memories broke open.

Glide above the grass

Laughter bounces off the rocks
Whimsical feet find no ground

The starry orchestra

The big & small of it

Waking up with the first light of the day - makes me feel both big & small. Big, coz i’m part of everything i can see. And not see, too. It’s a punch in the stomach and simultaneously a resplendent realization of my ‘being’. Small, coz despite knowing & feeling this, i tend to restrict my ‘self’ to the physical form which carries me. This differentiation, this separation pits me against this grandeur. I guess it makes sense that i feel both, together or alternatively. The dichotomy upholds me. What about you?

Too often than not for my comfort I observe and hear about parents having very precise ideas about what kind of a person their child is. And will be. And they don’t like disagreements or diversions from that. I dare say, “Parents, you don’t own your children. You are the bow and they, the arrows. Release them you must, come back they should if they want to.”
